Podcasts: The most valuable addition to a day
We are big advocates of Podcasts here at VAULT and wanted to share some of our favourites.
Author Robert Greene talks of "Alive Versus Dead Time" and podcasts are an awesome way to turn the Dead to the Alive.
Are you stuck in the car on your commute, are you waiting at the station for a train that has been delayed 10 minutes. Do you have down time between your appointments and need to fill your brain with something other than browsing social media and increasing your stress levels.
These first two are essentials for me.
Optimal Living Daily
OLD for short is a curated list of short episodes breaking down longer podcasts. It's essentially a highlight reel of finance, personal development, health, business and relationships. The guys at OLD do the listening for you and then collate everything into 5-10 minute episodes.
The Tim Ferriss Show
Tim's is officially one of the best podcasts there is. In his own words the podcast is "Deconstructs world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract the tactics, tools, and routines you can use. This includes favorite books, morning routines, exercise habits, time-management tricks, and much more."
JK also listens to the following with a little less frequency;
The Aubrey Marcus Podcast
The Fitness Business Podcast
I really like the Jim Rohn quote "Formal education will make you a living, self-education will make you a fortune". It's the self-education aspect that brings me back to podcasts so often.
Broken down in to 3 categories these are my go to:
The Daily Dad
Just 3 minutes of wisdom on how to be the best Dad I can be. Ryan Holiday is without a doubt my favourite author at the moment and The Daily Dad, as well as his other podcast "The Daily Stoic" have been really enlightening for me.
Ben Greenfield Fitness
Ben is one of a kind. He has the most incredible wealth of knowledge on all things human physiology, performance and more. It's inspirational listening to a man who has literally tried it all.
In Our Time
A knew found love of history came from the BBC podcast In Our Time. I'm disappointed in myself for not learning more about history through school when it's a fascinating topic with such variety. We can learn so much from everything that has come before us.
Like JK, I'm also a big fan of Tim Ferris and Aubrey Marcus whilst finding myself listening to episodes of The Genius Life by Max Lugavere quite regularly too.
